Ostrava Zoo

The Ostrava Zoological Garden and Botanical Park was founded in 1951. It is the second largest zoological garden in the Czech Republic and has developed massively in recent years. On some 100 hectares, it currently keeps more than 4,000 animals of 435 different species. Besides keeping and breeding rare and endangered animal species, Ostrava Zoo also grows plants. There is no question that its situation in the unique Great Ostrava Forest natural area predestined Ostrava Zoo to a botanical direction too. The premises offer four botanical paths, and a Rhododendron Park featuring one of Europe’s largest collections of rhododendrons and azaleas.

Environmental protection is one of our key interests. Following Prague Zoo we therefore decided to support one more zoological garden, specifically the Ostrava Zoological Garden and Botanical Park. Besides protecting fauna and flora from various parts of the world, Ostrava Zoo also focuses on our nature and our closest environment. They actively contribute to nature conservation in the Moravian-Silesian Region, thereby inspiring the public: an activity that we at Komerční banka will be happy to continue to support.
