Benefits of ATM sharing
Withdraw and deposit cash (only CZK banknotes) with your debit card from shared ATMs under the same pricing conditions as in KB’s own ATM network.
You can withdraw cash from MONETA Money Bank’s, Air Bank’s, and Unicredit Bank’s ATMs.
You can deposit cash in MONETA Money Bank’s and Air Bank’s ATMs. It will only be possible to deposit cash in UniCredit Bank’s ATMs later in the future due to a different provider.
By this project, we respond to the current European trend of ATM sharing. The objective is to eliminate redundant ATMs: where two shared ATMs are located close to each other we remove one of them and install it in a new place lacking an ATM so far. Almost 15,000 people voted in 2022 and 2023 on where to move our redundant ATMs. Locations to which we plan to move ATMs and those where a transferred ATM has already been installed are shown in the map at www.sdilenybankomat.cz.
We have also invited other banks in the market to cooperate in ATM sharing. Our partnership with MONETA Money Bank was the start; Air Bank and UniCredit Bank joined the project later. We hope that additional banks will join us in the future.
For KB clients, cash withdrawals from all MONETA Money Bank, Air Bank, and UniCredit Bank ATMs are subject to the same conditions as those applicable to cash withdrawals from KB’s ATMs. This concerns withdrawals using debit cards, including company cards.
With KB credit cards, cash withdrawals from MONETA Money Bank, Air Bank, and UniCredit Bank ATMs are subject to the same conditions as those applicable to cash withdrawals from KB’s ATMs.
You can display your KB account balance and change your PIN in addition to cash withdrawals. These services are free for KB clients.
You can also deposit cash in MONETA Money Bank’s and Air Bank’s shared deposit ATMs under the same conditions as in KB’s deposit ATMs. At the moment, almost 800 deposit ATMs are available. UniCredit Bank has a different ATM operation provider and will therefore join the scheme later; then, KB clients will be able to deposit cash in more than 900 shared deposit ATMs.
Withdrawing cash from MONETA Money Bank’s, Air Bank’s, and UniCredit Bank’s ATMs is the same as using KB’s ATM network. Therefore, KB clients can still benefit from two free cash withdrawals from third-party ATMs in the Czech Republic and selected European countries.
We will move redundant ATMs (i.e., shared ATMs that are close to each other in a single place, such as shopping centres) to places where none of the banks has an ATM, thereby enhancing comfort for clients in such areas.
Moreover, ATM sharing will help to cut energy demand and other costs required to operate separate ATM networks (e.g., ATM cash supply and maintenance costs). The project will also help to reduce all participating banks’ carbon footprint. We will again be a step closer to doing business sustainably.
The conditions governing the use of ATMs (including any fees) remain unchanged for KB’s clients. Therefore, you can use your debit card to withdraw cash from MONETA Money Bank’s, Air Bank’s, and UniCredit Bank’s ATMs under the same conditions as from KB’s ATMs; by the same token, KB clients can deposit cash (only CZK banknotes) in MONETA Money Bank’s and Air Bank’s deposit ATMs under the same conditions as in KB’s own ATMs.
Cash withdrawals with a credit card may be subject to a charge under your credit card agreement.
This shared service also shares the same limits as follows: maximum CZK 300,000 and at the same time maximum 200 banknotes, CZK denominated, in a single transaction.
For now, KB clients cannot use MONETA Money Bank’s, Air Bank’s, and UniCredit Bank’s ATMs to enable their KB Klíč key/password activation or activate their payment cards via an activation button. KB clients can access these services only at KB’s ATMs.
Savings are not the primary objective of this project. Enhancing comfort for clients, improving ATM availability outside city centres, and more sustainable operation of ATM networks are the key objectives for all participating banks.
When talking about savings in this context, we mainly refer to those related to sustainability and environmental friendliness.
Average annual costs of ATM operation depend on a number of factors, such as the ATM type (cash withdrawals only, deposits, or recycling) and the rent in the location. However, in general, the costs amount up to CZK 500,000/year (incl. VAT).
The average annual consumption is approximately 2,400 kWh.
This high energy consumption is caused by the ATM operation technology; in addition to constant connection (power supply, control computer, touch screen, data connectivity and security components, lighting, etc.), electricity is also needed to run the drives of its mechanicals during each transaction. Equally importantly, ATMs also contain integrated heating that ensures a stable operating temperature and their full serviceability in cold periods, in particular in the case of outdoor ATMs installed in wall recesses.
The ATM network sharing project will therefore bring significant energy savings and thus also carbon footprint reductions, since the generation of 2,400 kWh of electricity produces almost one tonne of CO2.
Yes, similar ATM network sharing partnerships exist in a number of European countries, for example, in the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and also France where three major French banks have announced their plan to share their respective ATM networks, including Société Générale, of whose group Komerční banka is part.
Thank you for appreciating our ATM sharing project
We have won the prestigious Banking Innovator 2022 award for our innovative approach to ATM network sharing.
